What's your salary expectation?
Sherri Thomas - Hiring Managers want to know if they can afford you so you will need to answer this question and know your worth. I agree with other coaches who have responded about doing your research to know what similar jobs are paying in the same city. Be sure to research job roles (i.e. skills and responsibilities) vs. researching job titles since a Director level job in a Fortune 100 company has vastly different roles and responsibilities than a Director at a small company.
Allow the interviewer to make the 1st move and inquire about your salary requirements.
Finally, when answering this question say something like, "I was going to ask you what is budgeted for this position?" This allows the Hiring Manager to set the baseline. If the salary range is low but you REALLY want the job, then say what your salary range target is and that you will choose a job offer based on job growth and challenge. If they really want you, they will try to increase the salary. #YouAsked
